Google has restricted Huawei!
In the recent days Google has decided to block updates to Huawei phones. This is due to the Trump administration adding Huawei to a list of companies that American firms cannot trade with unless they have a licence. America has also issued a 90 day license to continue trading and once this has ran out the trading will then fully cease.
Google has said "complying with the order and reviewing the implications" but also stated that Google Play and security protections from Google Play would continue to function on existing devices.
Huawei has said “Huawei will continue to provide security updates and after sales services to all existing Huawei and honor smartphone and tablet products covering those that have been sold or still in stock globally,”
Does this affect me if I have a Huawei phone?
If you currently have a Huawei device you will be able to update apps and update security fixes as well as update Google Play services.Although its worth noting the next generation of phones will not have any Google apps or software on their devices.

We will continue to build a safe and sustainable software ecosystem, in order to provide the best experience for all users globally.”
Overall thoughts
I have been following the last couple of phone releases closely and thinking about making the move over to them. Now this has happened it has deterred me for the time being. Until I see something which will bring them back out on top as they were heading that way.
Although saying this, I am looking forward to them rolling out their 5G as this will be another big break for the general public and they are leading in producing this. (The UK is still reviewing its 5G telecoms policy and may allow them to supply 5G components such as antenna masts
Overall it will be interesting to see where Huawei will go next with there next range of phones or general comeback from this.
It's also worth to note if Trump administration has blocked this, does this mean they will be far behind in the race to 5G? Time will tell!
